Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil might just be the most versatile health food on the planet. Not only is it my favorite cooking oil, but coconut oil uses are countless and can be used for everything from deodorant to toothpaste, body lotion, healthy fudge and most importantly providing immune support.

Coconut oil contains a three unique fatty acids in lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid that are some of the rarest in nature. In fact, coconut oil has been reported as nature’s richest source for medium chain fatty acids. What makes medium chain fatty acids different from long chain fatty acids? MCFAs are smaller, so they can permeate our cell membranes more easily, which means they don’t require special enzymes in order for our bodies to utilize them. They’re easily digested, naturally putting less strain on our digestive systems.

Homemade Healthly Coconut Oil Deodorant:

5 Tbsp. of Coconut Oil-Organic Extra Virgin Unrefined

1/4 – 3/8 cup of Baking Soda to get it to the right consistency)

1/4 – 3/8 cup of Cornstarch (you can also use Arrowroot powder.)

A few drops of your favorite essential oils.

Put the Baking Soda and Cornstarch (or Arrowroot) in a bowl and mix. Then add the coconut oil and add any essential oils you want to go in there. Mix thoroughly until it becomes a paste. You can add more baking soda and cornstarch in equal amounts if it doesn’t seem thick enough to you. Store in a small mason jar.

Homemade Healthly Coconut Oil Toothpaste (SMILE!)

3 Tbsp coconut oil

3 Tbsp baking soda

25 drops peppermint essential oil

1 packet stevia

Put the coconut oil and baking soda in a bowl and mash up with a fork until blended. Add the peppermint essential oil, stevia and optional vegetable glycerin and continue to mash and stir until you’ve reached toothpaste consistency. Store in a small mason jar.

Coconut Oil Raw Fudge

1 cup coconut oil –

1 cup shredded coconut –

1/2 cup rice syrup /maple syrup- or whatever sweetener you prefer

1/2 cup cocoa

and mix in a food processor with the s blade or use a blender.

Optional:1 cup chopped almonds and pulse a few times.

Pour into a parchment paper lined dish and keep refrigerated or frozen.

Coconut oil is liquid at room temperature so keep it cold.  Yummy and Healthy!
