“What Keeps Me Moving!”

Being active is a very important part of what makes me happy and keeps me going. The average person should exercise at least thirty minutes every day to stay healthy according to the American Heart Association. When people hear the word they usually think of going to the gym, which for a lot of people is not the most enjoyable experience. If you are one of those people that doesn’t like going to the gym there are a lot of options for you to get active and stay healthy! I love going running, playing tennis, practicing yoga and going for hikes. Not only does exercising help keep you physically fit, it can also improve your mental health. Doing any type of aerobic activity releases endorphins in the brain, which produces feelings of euphoria and an overall state of well-being. Being active always lifts my mood and makes me feel positive about myself.

In addition to supporting our personal health, an active lifestyle can benefit the planet! Whether it’s biking or walking instead of driving or ensuring our lakes and streams are clean for swimming and canoeing, our own health and physical fitness is intimately tied to the planet’s.

Staying active can prevent numerous health problems later in life, so why not start right now and make it a habit? Who knows, maybe you will even find an activity you are passionate about and meet some new people along the way!
